TASVEER Presents HIKARI

~Contemporary Photography from Japan~

Super premium Menswear brand Luxure Louis Philippe has joined hands with contemporary photography gallery Tasveer to bring together the works of avante garde photographers, as part of a forthcoming 5 city exhibition tour. In this exhibition, Tasveer in association with Luxure Louise Philippe is delighted to bring the work of some of the most celebrated and influential Japanese photographers working today - to be exhibited in India for the first time.

Japan has one of the most active and creative photography scenes in the world - with many Japanese artists having played a pioneering role in the global development of contemporary photography, and its acceptance into the art world.

The exhibition therefore provides a unique opportunity to see a wide range of approaches to the medium - from large scale constructed landscapes to manipulated micro photographs. In addition to this, it explores the notion of ‘Hikari’ (the Japanese word for light) in each of the photographers' work. The photographers show us that light can be used as both a tool of illumination and as a cloak - either revealing something we might not normally see, or conversely, covering something up.

The photographs in this exhibition show perfectly photography’s position as an important art form, as well as its inescapable position as a true craft. Luxure Louis Philippe is proud to partner such an exhibition, as the ideals of creativity and perfectionism are concepts dear to the brand. It derives inspiration from the creative vision of artists and that of the skill and vision of craftsmen, merging these two together in their endeavours towards perfection. And as testimony to its devoir towards art & craftsmanship, the brand lends its support to Tasveer’s Seventh Season of Exhibitions.

“Luxure Louis Philippe is an exponent of art, creativity and innovation and true to this, we are elated to announce our collaboration with the country’s pioneer in photography exhibitions, which we believe will be a fruitful and successful venture in showcasing the best talent and also reaching a larger audience about the wonderful joy that the art of photography can give” said Mr. Jacob John, Brand Head, Louis Philippe, India.
The aims of the exhibition is therefore to showcase the diverse and creative world of contemporary Japanese photography, as well as to see how new readings of the photographers' work can emerge when seen in relation to the exhibition's theme.
