Embellish

by

Sannam Chopra

Back in the medieval age a person’s valour was showcased through sport. People would gather around in aspiration to see these men joust (sword fight) each other in the courts of kings and queens.  In this crowd, stands a damsel in her finery, observing these brawny men do battle. The world through the eyes of this girl is the inspiration of this collection, MEDIEVAL POP

The collection has been accentuated with the use of Swarovski crystals, metal rivets and chains. While leather protectors add the desired edge to the jewellery. Modern geometry rules the collection, which ranges from necklaces, earrings, cuffs, hair accessories and bags respectively.

USP of the collection is its bold-aged; softly-rugged look with a dash of colour making each piece dramatic.

On this occasion, designer Sannam Chopra states, “This time, I have tried something entirely new! It’s the first time I have used leather extensively in jewellery and introduced bags. I am excited to showcase my collection and witness how media, buyers and fashion enthusiasts perceive it! I hope it will be a show-stopping spectacle.”

Introduces Spring/Summer 2013 Collection @

Lakme Fashion Week- Winter/Festive 2012

For this season, young and vibrant designer Drashta Sarvaiya’s muse is Gustav Klimt's paintings. This unique collection is a riot of colors like white, nude, yellow, mauve and purples, peaches and blues.

Klimt’s primary subject was the female body in nude and semi nude forms are represented beautifully in emaculately draped dresses in nudes and white being his canvas before he began his paintings. Drashta has also entrenched a floral-motif light-weight brocade to capture the richness of Gustav Klimt's paintings along with his love for nature, specifically flowers. Double georgette and crepe are also a part of this season's summer collection.

Drashta excitedly explains her collection, “I've worked on peplum and have created different versions of it for various silhouettes.  The key silhouettes consist of dresses, trousers, tunics, shirts and skirts. klimt's use of gold leaf and the opulence were iconic during his golden phase. Therefore, embellishment on the designs is done with crystals in difference hues with gold & flowers. Raffia embellishment has taken centre stage to recreate thick stroke like trexture on various surfaces. ”

Drashta, through her collection, has tried to sustain the lines of her winter collection but has tweaked the peplum to suit various silhouettes, creating further volume below the waist to make the waist line appear smaller. This, according to her, adds a fun element which is a must see at the LFW Winter/Festive 2012.

AARAMBH

by

The Mayan myth of 2012, being the last year on our calendar where the earth would undergo spiritual transformation and mark the beginning of a new era is the inspiration for the young and enthusiastic Gen Next Designer Aniket Satam's Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive collection.

The Designer has worked on ensembles like scribbled pieces of paper with stained ink and blotches of gleaming hope thus celebrating the secret author of our own karma- our own self.

The designer excitedly says: I have worked on layered silhouettes and tactile texture narrating visceral orgy of our complex minds. Color schemes including milk, ivory, cobalt and ink- viscose are blended with fabrics like Georgette, cotton jersey, raw silk and velvet are textured further with flashes of gold foil on bed of abstract embroidery strokes. It’s like adding piece of prose or not of prayer of such fashionable new awakening.”
